Government survey license holders organization, Nepal Institution of Chartered Surveyor’s (NICS) annual general meeting was held on 1st October 2008. Buddhi Narayan Shrestha has been elected as the President of the Institution for the next two years term, by the general body. Besides, Punya Prasad Oli, Mahendra Prasad Sigdel, Rajendra Prasad Maratha, Shambhu Gyawali, Dr. Padma Raj Lamichhane and Nagendra Jha have been elected as Vice-President, General Secretary, Treasurer, Secretary, and Executive Committee Members respectively.
On the programme, Babu Ram Acharya, Secretary of the Ministry of Land Reform and Management informed that it is going to be managed to provide the work of parcel sub-division to the registered license holder surveyors, during the land transaction. The licenciate surveyors will visit the field and they verify the parcel map, demarcate the parcel and establish markers on the corners of land parcel, while buying and selling the lands. Acharya emphasized that the Chartered Surveyors must let it know the common people on the activities performed by the District Survey and Revenue Offices. Licentiate Surveyors must help for the computerization work of the records of land rights.
Raja Ram Chhatkuli, Director General of Survey Department said, land parcel updating work is very important for the general people. So the Licentiate Surveyors must conduct the technical jog in a service oriented motive. He further mentioned that the government has issued the license to the Surveyors with a view to make the surveying profession respectful.
On behalf of the Chartered Surveyors, Buddhi Narayan Shrestha expressed that the license holder surveyors are very much committed to work as per the norms and standards, regulations and specifications of surveys and maps, set by the government organizations. During the annual general meeting, Mahendra Prasad Sigdel, Rajendra Prasad Maratha, Dr. Padma Raj Lamichhane and Nagendra Jha emphasized that the government and licensed surveyors must go hand in hand for the parcel sub-division work very accurate and precise, during the land transaction.
